@KienjeTheGiant He eats candy because his blood sugar? is LOWER than normal and therefore he needs glucose. When you are diabetic you always run into the risk of taking too much insulin which results in low blood sugar levels. And I personally take the shots near my abs and sometimes for a quicker effect, in my forearm. And no, the vast majority of the time you barely even feel it. You take insulin whenever you eat something with enough sugar.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 9 and have had it now for 20 years. I was always able to keep good control of my disease. About 10 years ago, I? lost control and was admitted to the hospital. There I found out about insulin pump therapy. I decided to go on the pump and become more educated about diabetes and its affect on my life. I think it's important for those with diabetes and their families to get educated - it will save lives.

@mincraft4real milkshakes that aren't made from scratch tend to have a higher amount of carbs - if you go on the mcdonalds website, they've got all the carbs from? all their meals in their nutrition advice docs, and a pdf of the ingredients. a shake has well over 100carbs (some of them are up to almost 150!), which is due to it's being mostly refined sugar

Just found out on Nov 26 2011 that my 6 yr old daughter is type 1. We are? just now getting it under control. Cant wait for her to be able to go to the pump! She plays basketball and I get so nervous every time she plays. She doesn't. Lol. Which I am glad she plays b/c it's great for her! I have T1 as well through 6 Endocrinologists in nearly 12 years the final confirmed. It's a? constant battle, because though I'm heavy set, I'm still T1. I was diagnosed with a blood sugar of 984 and the pump is a wonderful thing to have! I completely agree. It's the best thing to help control Diabetes. It's one of the things that continued to me go on. I remember taking 8 - 15 shots a day.

I am 25 and I am starting to come to the realization that I may have had type 1 diabetes my entire life. I've had all of the symptoms, as well as several (though mild, but enough to give me problems) issues with my health. I think I'm losing my 29 year old daughter to diabetes. I've had Type 1 diabetes for 48 years.I had to boil a syringe every? morning before I would prepare my insulin.No new needle with every shot When the needle got too dull was the time I could change it.Had to go for over 100 mi to get my equipment.

When I had gotten there I'd lost about 45 pounds. My mum knew the symptoms and she tried to get me to go to the doctor, because was always freezing cold in June, July, and August, .. September 17th I was diagnosed. I would go to school, and sleep, come home and sleep, I had all the symptoms, but as any parent wants to deny it my mother would do? everything she could to keep me safe, and alert, to get me to eat, but I'd get sick off of it. I have been a T-1? for 13 years and on Friday my Endo. asked me if I wanted a Islet cell transplant. I am excited about that and will have to see if even for a year I won't need insulin. The other problem I have is I am hypoglycemic unaware so i can't feel lows at all. The transplant is supposed to remove the lows as well as the highs so yes I will get it and take the anti-rejection cocktail for life.

Every minute, hour, and day is different influenced by so many factors some of which you can count and some of which you cannot count like stress level, hormones, the weather (lol), etc... Everyone, if you're having any of these symptoms it counts as to how long you've been having it. If it's sudden, they go get it checked. If it's been a long time like months, it's not type 1 diabetes. You'd be dead by then. My sister and brother both have type 1 and when my sister was diagnosed, we almost lost her. She was in hospital for about a month and her sugar? levels were SO high. I remember all her clothes not fitting her and she drank like a litre of lemonade in one hour.

And those who drink soda and are diabetic aren't doing what is best for their bodies. You want to be careful when it comes to sugary foods. I try to just stay away from them and I suggest that for every diabetic. And I hope that you are checking your blood sugar several times a day. That is crucial for a diabetic. Oh, and my sister is in England! :D

Many misconceptions here. Diabetic ketoacidosis is quite different from dietary ketoacidosis. Low carb diet? will NOT cause dietary ketoacidosis. We are not eliminating carbs, just reducing them. A high fat diet in the presence of low carbs has NEVER been proven to cause heart disease. Please find me that study.

Yeah you know what your talking about! But, if a diabetic goes on the Atkins diet...it will kill them very quickly! The Atkins diet produces ketoacidosis! I don't fully understand why it doesn't kill a non diabetic but I'm pretty sure it would kill a diabetic, as ketoacidosis is the biggest killer in the diabetic community. One suggestion i make to anyone with diabetes, especially type 2, is? to start taking Omega 3 fish oil, as that is known to reduce insulin resistance + has many more benefits!

Since you have no clinical experience, you have not seen patient after patient eat more protein and fat and NOT gain weight...it's the carbs, silly!. Follow a physician's advice....Why? You have so many misconceptions...where to begin? Simple and complex carbs both break down into the same glucose, only difference is complex does that more slowly. As a med student, I understand your confusion about patients not wanting basal insulin or other meds given to them. It fries your brain because you? are steeped in the old mindset of drugs being the answer. The folks reading this are looking to get away from drugs, not use more. Perhaps you should switch Med schools as you have wrong info. When the brain is deprived of insulin, it dies. Insulin has a major role in the brain. Increasing fat and protein does not on it's own...cause weight gain, especially when carbs are low. Please get back to us when your education is complete and you have a few years of treating patients from a more natural, holistic perspective. Your prejudice against DC's shows ignorance and is why doc's like me have a? career as folks search the web.

beneficial, if done properly. A diabetic who increases protein and fat in their diet must make sure that they exercise to avoid gaining excessive weight. Excessive weight gain will lead to insulin resistance, and that is a bad thing. Realize that intake of fat and protein need to be done in a? manner to promote a healthy body weight and proper blood chemistry (cholesterol, etc.). Follow your PHYSICIAN'S advice regarding diet, not that of a DC on youtube.

For the record, I am a Type 1 diabetic, as well as a medical student. Diabetics NEED to decrease/eliminate their intake of Simple carbohydrates, as contained in soda and candy. I say that because I have heard,saw , and read hundreds of testimonials from people with a wide variety of problems. In japan they have done tests using this kind of water and it seems to help diabetes. Lol, I dont know yet, im gonna try it very soon and Ill tell you if it went well for me or did basically? nothing.

You missed the point. Worst case is less meds and better blood sugar control. Yes,...not me, but this dietary advice will normalize blood sugar easily because you simply are not eating as many foods that break down into sugar...and, blood sugar goes down. Diabetes doesn't? need a cure, it needs a better diet.

FANTASTIC!! Totally agree that the ADA has some funny ideas... their diet is killing people :( You say in 'most' cases Type 1s take insulin - don't ALL? Carbs are what diabetics have trouble with. We know that much for sure, so why oh why must so many organisations & doctors promote eating so many carbs? Where is the sense in that? Your down? to earth video is great - Thanks for sharing :)
