I don't understand why people comment on videos on diabetes and say it sucks, ofc it's not an ideal situation but all it is, is taking a few shots of insulin a day and keeping yourself healthy, I just think my self lucky for the good? stuff I have in life :)

I get low blood sugar which is diet related. While I have seen diabetics eating a full? size 3 Musketeers chocolate bar with a sugar soda the same food will cause my sugar to go low (hypoglycemia = dizzy, headache, and other symptoms). But I don't get the diabetic diseases.

Can't give you a number, but i can say this: the risk factors you have for getting type 2 diabetes are: 1. your high cholesterol 2. too much soft drinks, but because you're an athlete, (I assume you work out alot) should compensate for that. your sister's status doesn't count, it's your parents that will. if they have type? 2 diabetes, this will increase chances that you will too. careful about your weight because it's obesity that Really increases chances for getting type 2 diabetes.

I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. The synthetic? insulin does cause problems and not rarely. It hits like a hammer and has no duration. I am importing pork (natural) insulin from? How exactly do bagels, pizza, and noodles cause insulin resistance? I thought it was hydrogenated fats, and cheese and peanut butter, cream...and hard to digest food like meat and old nuts, and drinking while eating watering down stomach acids, that clogged up people. Yep, I defintely have metabolic syndrome, Let myself go a bit. I Stopped all junk and? am exercising, scale does not want to budge. Even 5 years ago, if I would have done the same thing, pounds would have dropped quickly. Thick abdominal fat, high BP, high LDL, low HDL, prediabetic fasting glucose levels if I start eating too many carbs, just to name a few of the symptoms I have. No ones fault but my own. Carbs are very problematic for me, eat too many and I get constant painful hunger. Cheers!

Thanks a lot for this video. Really helpful. What was your fasting glucose before doc prescribed you the pump? With the pump how much glucose level do you maintain? Do you keep it at 105? or 140?. Does the insulin cause you any side affect like pills? Do you manually? adjust the insulin rate or is it automatic? @drcldrcl What bothers me is when people point out that most livestock is fed grains......as a way to discourage people from eating meat. HEY, I am not? going to pay 2-4 times as much for the meat I eat because it is NOT finished on grain feedlot. From what I have read, meat in general has never been a very good source of Omega 3. I eat a lot of fish and Omega 3 eggs.....but I will not pay 12.99 for a pound of yuppified, oeverpriced meat.

@KujoDaTrollEater Just wanted to? let you and your wife know, if your bodies tissues have plenty of glucose in them it will cause water retention, much the same way that sodium causes fluid retention, water is attracted to both molecules. I personally do not think it makes much difference what labels they put on beef, it is pretty much the same, all cows are grass fed, some just go to finishing lots for a little while before they are butchered...big deal. My main issue is water retention which mostly comes from excess salt, not sugar! I check my sugars all of the time and they are perfect, so that's not it. @Sephirah777 The reason I ask is because a Gtt is only part of the picture, measuring insulin alongside glucose is the best way to see what is going on. Have you tried low carb? The reason I mention it is because high levels of insulin are not good for you. The dark patches are called Acanthosis Nigricans, a symptoms of high levels of insulin. The body can use fat for energy, it just needs time to adapt to this for of fuel, requires a lot less insulin.?

@tickyul As of now I'm not on any restricted diet. I just try to limit my portions and try to avoid adding salt to anything that I cook. My husband got me a dog so I think going out for walks helps with exercise. I took a fasting glucose test and a non fasting glucose? test which led to the doctor discovering my insulin levels were dangerously high. As far as symptoms go, I have those dark discolorations all over my body and stay very irritable. At times my mind is in a fog.

I've an agreement from my Diabetes specialist that a pump is the? way forward in my current circumstances (stress levels++++ & corresponding adrenaline levels = blood glucose all over the place & impossible to control easily). I've had type 1 diabetes for 43 years & I've travelled from boiling glass & stainless steel syringes all the way through to insulin pens. Are insulin pumps harder to obtain in the UK & less? available on the NHS. Does anyone know if that is actually true? No it doesn't hurt. I don't bother with the? insertion devices, to my way of thinking they are more of a fiddle than they're worth. you might find them useful? someone who started on the pump has had an infection at an infusion sight. They kept their infusion in without changing for 6 days. It's important to follow the guidelines and put in a new one every 2-3 days.

I am? a Brit, where insulin pump therapy is relatively new. I started on my MiniMed 6 weeks ago. It is a much better way to control diabetes than the old way. I can't imagine going back to the old way now!

@FashionRawkz Protein powders are not good for you. I certainly wasn't recommending soy protein. High protein intake causes all kinds of problems, including calcium loss/bone demineralization. Try spirulina for extra protein.? It's not an isolate like soy and whey, it's a natural source, and is very rich in vitamins and minerals.

At first he says "Soy INCREASES IGF1 levels", but then those people used in research were big soy consumers following soy diets and at the same time VEGANS and didn't raise any IGF1 levels. Ugh, this video? refers to TYPE 2 DIABETES, not type 1 diabetes. A real doctor would make this distinction. Type 1 diabetics require insulin (injected or through a pump) to survive. There is no other option for treating type 1 diabetes. Without insulin, type 1 diabetics die. Get it right.

@buckpelvis You don't have to and should NOT eliminate carbs. It is about knowing WHEN to use carbs and when to reverse blood sugar. I workout 2x per day for 30-45 minutes and eat 2-4 potatoes before the workout and? dextrose. The absolute key is when you are active it is OK to use sugars. Pre/Post workout spike your system with highly acidic protein like whey isolate. Immediately after workout banana and whey then STOP. In about an hour only eat very simple red meat and veggies
