i'm going to urge my friend? to get the continuous glucose monitor. He currently has a medtronic insulin pump where after he eats he tells it what he ate, like 2 slices of pizza, hamburger, etc...it's amazing that the device kind of estimates how much insulin he needs. I think a new pump w/ the CGM would be a better choice...

Great video! I'm 16 and have had diabetes since i was 4. I had needles at first, and when i was like 12 i got the Animas 2020, and now the ping. Deciding to switch to the paradigm when The FDA decides to release the new Paradigm veo. I like the whole CGM concept and all. I have a question tho. You said you have bruises, and noticed? they were in the same location. Why don't you move it around? i put mine on my Bicep in my arm, my stomach, my thigh, and my Butt cheek. Moving it around helps.

@SUSSTURUCU I have the Animas 2020 and you can buy different sizes of tubes, needles (canulas) and canula adapters. P.S. I got it at 11 because of the colour screen but know i really like it. Probably going to wait for the continuous BSL meters to go down in price (In Australia it's? $70 per 3 days) before i move pumps.

i dont understand how other with diabetes can handle it so good i have tried for 6years now but always i fail and ending up in the hospital because of i get acid in me. This? insulin pump's cables are very long...This is a B?G PROBLEM.. this for reason, I lived ketoasidozis twice...?nsulin Pump's cables must be short.. @TomaGrubb FYI Mekelsior is a vegan activist who refuses to post any valid scientific evidence of his theories. The science is clear on diabetes treatment and diet - and although there are some vegans who do manage to control their diabetes within ADA recommendations (which aren't very tight, in my opinion) but very few people trying vegan actually manage it, unless they weren't in bad shape to begin with. For me I had to eat LCHF and limit my carbs to only non-starchy low-gi? carbs.

@Mekelsior This is still true, there is no cure for Type 2 or Type 1 diabetes. I've looked into McDougall's "reversal" as well as that of Dr. Neal Barnards - and? they're both vegans trying to promote something that seldom works for Type 2 diabetics. We're best reducing our intake of starchy carbohydrates, period. I get all my carbs from non-starchy veggies. My numbers were so bad I cannot eat grains or starches and be healthy. I also have normal BG's now.

My immediate concern as a mother is that the natural? insulin is no longer available in America, so many diabetics have to import? their insulin from Canada and England. I will have no faith in the Health Care Business in America,? until they make the natural pork and beef? insulin available to all the diabetics who need it to survive and have quality of life.

If you have children, the chances of them getting diabetes are the same as any child being diagnosed, so they are at no greater risk at all. Hope this helps :)

When you are diabetic you always run into? the risk of taking too much insulin which results in low blood sugar levels. And I personally take the shots near my abs and sometimes for a quicker effect, in my forearm. And no, the vast majority of the time you barely even feel it. You take insulin whenever you eat something with enough sugar.

About 10 years ago, I lost control and was admitted to the hospital. There I found out about insulin pump therapy. I've read pros and cons on Dr. Faustman's research, but to me she's an angel of hope for diabetics. My immediate concern as a mother is that the natural insulin is no longer available in America, so many diabetics have to import? their insulin from Canada and England. So wtf does this have to do with a cure? Don't put "cure" in the title if it has nothing to do with a cure. Im a type 1 diabetic, and im very skeptical of doing what my doctors tell me.They want me taking 4+ injections a day, using as many test strips, lancets, needles, and insulin as humanly possible. Softglow, you are absolutley right, I was puzzled by the opening statement made. However, it is important to understand that anything we consume from a plant whether we lable it a "fat",? "carb" or "protein" does contain sugar at some level via the photosynthesis process. Furthermore, proteins can actually turn into sugar. The glucose-alanine cycle explains why it is possible to have an elevated blood glucose while eating essentially only meat and fat. But as you said, the key is healthy eating!

I'm sorry that you lost Buddy. I have a 5 yr old male recently diagnosed, and I'm heartbroken because he was healthy as an ox just wks before. I'm hoping I can reverse the disease with strict monitoring and strict diet. The vet gave us? Lantus insulin, which sounds like a good insulin, though I've read about something called PZI as well. Yes, warming the ear before testing the blood can be very helpful when trying to obtain a? blood sample. Using a wet, warm washcloth in a ziptop bag, as you did, or using with a sock filled with microwaved rice both get the job done. As you mentioned, it's important to make sure that the warming mechanism isn't too hot. Testing on your cheek is a great idea. Excellent work, anlaactor!

Forgive me the additional post, but I wanted? to let you know I was able to get a small droplet of blood after heating a wet wash cloth for 30 seconds and putting it in a ziplock bag. :) I tested the warmth against my cheek until it cooled to an acceptable temp to put against Stella's ear. Her BG was originally 535 when diagnosed on 6/27. Today her pre-meal/Lantus shot was 396 when the alarm on my Contour monitor went off at 9:20 for the post meal/Lantus shot it was 223! Tomorrow our first Curve.

Yo, i'm 17 and got diagnosed with type 1 a month ago, seriously thought that my life was over XD. Would just like to say that reading similar stories and watching? this video has made me feel a lot more comfortable and a lot better about myself , so thanks guys :)

@mincraft4real milkshakes that aren't made from scratch tend to have a higher amount of carbs - if you go on the mcdonalds website, they've got all the carbs from all their meals in their nutrition advice docs, and a pdf of the ingredients. a shake has well over 100carbs (some of them are up to almost 150!), which is due to it's? being mostly refined sugar

hi, im 12 years old and have type 1 diabetes, and i have been told that 1 cup of the mc.donalds milkshake is the same as 6 bags of popcorn! how is that possible?! is the fat food ppl use to eat THAT? MUCH of carbohydrates and suger?!

@knowthediffspreadit they are both real. before you say i don't know i am type 1 as your son is. advise don't give up and calm? down when they say things like that. if you need a reason to think of it as providing an example for you son on how to act. i personaly know the annoyance of misinformation but the best way to deal with it is to be calm and and explain the difference.
