Normally I don't comment because many of your viewers object to? your videos on philosophical grounds when you're trying to educate, not evangelize. But this is life-and-death, and they cannot rely on the most crooked health care system in the world (in a country that uses medieval units of measure) to protect them. BGL meters are available over-the-counter and Americans must be proactive in their own care. Their nation is geared towards consumption and medication, not prevention.

Well written Sal. This is pretty much EXACTLY how my diabetes doctor explained it to me the first time. Although people should know that in extreme cases the blood concentration? goes upto 900 beyond which you can go into coma. I was diagnosed first time with a blood sugar concentration on 750.. but with medication and careful eating it rarely goes above 125..

@KienjeTheGiant He eats candy because his blood sugar is LOWER than normal and therefore he needs glucose.? When you are diabetic you always run into the risk of taking too much insulin which results in low blood sugar levels. And I personally take the shots near my abs and sometimes for a quicker effect, in my forearm. And no, the vast majority of the time you barely even feel it. You take insulin whenever you eat something with enough sugar.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes? when I was 9 and have had it now for 20 years. I was always able to keep good control of my disease. About 10 years ago, I lost control and was admitted to the hospital. There I found out about insulin pump therapy. I decided to go on the pump and become more educated about diabetes and its affect on my life. I think it's important for those with diabetes and their families to get educated - it will save lives.
